Looking into the use of hydroponics in ways to close the gaps of future water purification, for both our farm animals and our own drinking water.
By using watercress above the pond we will be creating on our property, in exchange for harvesting soil to create our cob home; the native fish below will feed the nitrogen’s required for the edible watercress to flourish. 🙂
We are thinking of having a few ducks on the Butterfly Forests Homestead. The ducks will be used for both weeding, eating invasive slugs, and for duck eggs. What a grand idea to use the water they prefer to swim in for such a purpose; hydroponics. 🙂
I highly suggest anyone who is interested in permaculture and various green [low carbon footprint] -growing inspirations to watch: “Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective.” Also, “Seeds of Permaculture” a great film. 🙂
